The tech industry really likes to . So what is it? Augmented reality (AR) is an enhanced view on current reality. What I mean by that is, if we were to look through an Augmented Reality enable glass or device, everyday objects wesee normally in real time, would be have extra information for example looking at street sign and getting details of the best restaurants on the street. Whilst the concept is it not new and has been shown in movies like Tron, Minority Report and anime such as Pokemon (The pokedex) and Dragon Ball Z (the scouter), it has finally come to big stage as Facebook announces its new open source platform.
Initially, many tech experts thought that the first AR device would be glasses, such as google glass, but it failed to reach the mass market. Facebook CEO, Mark Zuckerberg, believes the first AR device to “become mainstream” is smartphone cameras. The new platform will allow third party developers to experiment with the technology and create useful effects.
